We ripped a hedge out and replaced with the fence, gained a lot of garden space but had to start over. So a load of new plants mainly ground cover and loads of wild flower seeds, looking after the bees and some rescued shrubs. Wont see the benefits until next year really. Wife has just left for the garden center......again....

I have not seen any village gardens. Have I missed a link?

Am hoping to get the garden back to looking better after a number of years where much has been left without attention for a number of family reasons. However, most of the time spent recently has been fighting ivy that's grown both above and below ground from each of the 4 neighbours to the back and sides. Still got two 6' sections left to do - probably another 3-4 days work to cut back to the fence and then dig the borders to stop the roots spreading further. The section I finished yesterday took many hours with some 10-12 roots, some as thick as your wrist running under the fence and then up to 10 feet under the lawn. Horrendous stuff. Hadn't realised it had got so bad. Never had and don't want ivy anywhere in the garden.

The trips to the garden centre start again soon. Looking to plant a herbaceous border atop and behind a retaining wall that is currently put to lawn (ok - grass, of a fashion).

Today's gardening has been back at No 1 sons to cut back some climbers that had taken over the corner of his small terraced house garden and then out over the alley at the back making it and a great chunk of the garden area unusable. He's been here with us for three months, so trips back to his own place has been good for him. Filled many bags of shredded garden stuff over a couple of days. Just got to dispose of them now.

Another video. This time, just around the old farmyard pond that forms a public area on the estate just along the road from us. Just wanted to grab some calming video of the grasses that grow at this time of year around the pond and the sounds of birds and other noises from the area. The whole video is about 4 mins 30 secs. Hopefully long enough to get the effect but not so long it gets excruciatingly boring.

Bottom bracket and original crankset are now off the bike. Bit of a fight to undo one side as my bottom bracket tool made a mess and I had to resort to some beefy pump pliers.

New Shimano with 48/38/28 chain rings. New chain fitted, found an interesting video on how to calculate chain length and that seems to have worked out perfectly!

Previously the largest chain ring was a 36, so I've got much more range. Although after a test ride I didn't need to move off the 48T chain ring. Need to do some more tinkering with the front derailleur to smooth things out.

Big ride planned for tomorrow!
Nice bike in prep Gary. Is that a Kona decal I see ?

I still miss my Lava Dome and Cinder Cone (people like to nick them).

On a Boardman now which is very nice. But prefer the fit of the older steel ones.

Would love to make a bike up from old frame and parts but if I take up any more space might get negative feedback from the CIC

Being a tad eccentric I decided on taking up a silly crafty hobby during lockdown. Background to it is that me and CIC were going to a festival in May called Bearded Theory. It s blooming excellent by the way. The festival has a dress up theme each year for the Sunday and this year was masks/masquerade. I wanted to make a mask for myself but needed to be able to access beer while wearing.

I ended up doing some research and found a template and instructions to make this.

I have moved onto other headgear now as had plenty of material (EVA foam).

It keeps me busy in between providing daily care for an aged relative, gardening, tinkering with the Kobra, house work etc etc

Yeah many nights drawing and planning the extension to make the most of every bit. Get a nice view from the kitchen out one side and the sofa out the other side. It's a big burner too so heats the place really well20190803_104736.jpg

According to the logo it's a Kona Clump 7005 Aluminum Custom Butted Frame. Beyond that I don't know much more about it.

Haha oh yes i hate wires! I laid out all my wiring for the projector, screen, speakers and tv, hdmi, optical, LAN etc so the plasterers could go right over the top.
