8th April 2019 UPDATE
Route drive check finalised with
@Mr C yesterday and pleased to say it was a nice day for it too.
Route is now live on myrouteapp.com under New Forest 2019 Final Route.
Meeting at 10am.
Leaving from 10.30 at the normal meeting place of Ower Services botton of the A36 no 1 on the plan. The run takes us up the A36 and then turning left to Normansland passed The Lamb PH and up into the high parts of the forest. The turning right at the main junction before heading towards Fordingbridge. As you near Fordingbridge you will see signs for the turning on the left for Ringwood, heading South. Join the main road and head towards Fordingbridge. Further down this road you will see signs for Linwood. Take the left turning and follow the road, you will go over a grate and then a humpback bridge. Turn left at the junction up into the forest again and follow the road for Linwood. Please note that we are not doing the Bolderwood Ornamental Drive, you can if you wish. which will mean you miss position 9 and head straight over at the end onto Rhinefield. I would though advise that its tight and the drop offs at the side of another car comes towards you could either damage you alloy and in extreme cases rip your tyre. Hence missing it off the route. We follow the road and then head towards A35 turning right onto it heading south west. Further along we turn into Rhinefield and head for White Plains parking area for a comfort break and ice cream.
We then head out towards Brokenhurst and skirt the village. Heading through the countryside after a hill we turn left and follow the road. At the end we do a Zig Zag over the main carriageway and head towards the main road turning right at the end and heading down towards Lymington. Follow the signs for Beaulieu and then head through heading for Exbury Gardens. You will turn right and then right again and follow this road all the way to Lepe Country Park, along the coast and round to the left, up the hill and right into he car park. It will be fun finding a parking space as the forest is always busy. If Need be I would suggest that some go back as far as they can safely do and other park in front.
On a further note. Parking is payable at Lepe but not at White Plains. The cafe at lepe serves hot drinks and food. If some people would like to consider either heading back to Lymington, there is on route a great pub called The Walhampton Arms and also in Lymington itself a very good chip shop and Costa Coffee. Choices Choices.
Look forward to seeing you all on the day. Please remember, that this is a non group run. You are free to stop where you feel like and take photographs and grab a drink or ice cream. It is about having fun and enjoying ourselves. Plenty to see and do.
