Well here in Lincs. it is. Time to start "surface dressing" the counties roads and you all know what that means.

GRAVEL RASH :(:(:(

I was out showing my car to a member on Saturday afternoon and on our way back towards home we encountered a piece of said road repair. There were the obligatory 20mph speed signs, which generally were being observed, except for one particular IDIOT who was probably doing 55 (ish) in the opposite direction and who was definitely old enough to know better. I ended up with 5 chips in my windscreen and twice as many on the bodywork..

So, if you happen across a white Fiat Doblo van registration number WM12 TFE give him a wide berth, unless you happen to have a half brick to hand.:rage:

Tony.

ps. I'm going to call the police though I doubt there will be much they can do, even though I clearly have the reg. no. and date/time stamped video complete with position co-ordinates. Oh, and a witness.

Keep a copy of the vid. The first sign is a mandatory speed limit sign. As long as there was one in the opposite direction the police could take action. The police may then give you details and then takes civil action for repairs. Would make their day

Ahhhh, sorry to hear this Tony :(

Idiots who drive like that on that type of road surface, and the idiots who think 'Road Dressing' is good idea.

Sorry to see this mate , some real knobs about

Sorry to hear that Tony, what a bummer. Worth letting the police know about it. If it happened to me I think I'd also contact the local council/highways department to give them my thoughts about the risks associated with the whole process of surface dressing. Politely of course.....

There always seem to be one, and unfortunately you were caught in his path.

Sorry it happened Tony, there really are some knobheads about.

Unfortunately, I think you will be extremely lucky if the police do anything about it. They can't prove he was speeding, although from the video it's blatantly obvious he was travelling faster than 20 miles per hour, there's no evidential figure to corroborate that.

Driving without consideration for other road users? Possibly, but again in this day and age, my personal opinion is that you'll be lucky to get any interest from the police.

I suppose, technically it's fits the definition of a Road Traffic Collision, ie. owing to the presence of a motor vehicle on a road, damage or injury is caused to another person, property or vehicle. In that case you need a trip to your local police station to report it and they should provide you with the details for an insurance claim. If it's registered to anyone, the police do have the power to request the name of the driver from the owner or they face prosecution for not complying.

Private prosecution, as in the small claims court. Again possible but then you have to prove who was driving.

Not good mate  Always at least one Darwin Award winner around just when you don't need them. Put the Vid on Social Media and name and shame mate.

I think that's my best option Andy.

@t-tony, @Keet is bang on here. I've had an RTC to investigate before where a passenger stepping off a stationary bus twisted her ankle. That obviously didn't go anywhere but this one is straight forward mate. Get it reported.

That's awful luck mate and an awfully annoying thing to happen to anyone :meh:.
That t**t of a van driver deserves to be stripped naked, tied to a post at the side of that road after removing the speed limit signs to make him realise his errors :ymdevil:.
