We had an issue with the boat trailer, it was rotten, looked OK from the outside but it had corroded inside out, so decided to build another one to replace it, So new trailer built now to change the bits a bobs of the old trailer so decided to leave the boat on a mooring and take the trailer home to swap the bits, Bad Idea, 24 hours later and the boat almost sunk, went to make sure it was OK on Sunday before coming home and it was nearly underwater with only about six inches showing above water, bilge pump took an hour to get it dry again, lucky escape. Water came in from the stern-drive a rubber connection looks like a drive shaft gaiter had split and was unnoticed causing water to get into the boat. anyway all good now boat on new trailer and parts ordered to fix the leak. and a re-built starter motor as this was underwater. Bloody Money Pit..

New Trailer next to Old Trailer, ready to swap the bits over:

Boats are a hole in the water into which you pour money, i'm afraid.:(

Glad you got to that just in time and managed to save it!!
Trailer is looking great

Sounds like an emergency and hard work to bring the boat back up to normal levels - a good result for boat and trailer!

I was told that they are called a boat because every time they need a repair it's time to dig deep in your pocket and "Bring Out Another Thousand".

There's only two good days with boat......the day you buy it and day you sell it!!
Fortunately people do buy them else I wouldn't have a job! I work on a marina and have 500 to keep an eye on. Their great on their own it's when you put people on them they can become a problem!
