I got confused initially because the after picture is dirtier then the before one, assumed you'd just washed the car and got the pics in the wrong order :D

On to business, yes! Everyone should have spacers

I thought it may cause confusion :D hence the second post. Agree that eveyone should have spacers, they have been on the to do list for ages, wish I'd done it sooner.

Excuse my ignorance, but don't wheel spacers put unnecessary extra loading on the wheel bearing? I wouldn't feel happy using them except perhaps on a competition car where components don't cover many miles and are checked all the time. I couldn't see any difference between your pictures until you pointed it out.

I think that may be a bit of a myth.

As long as spacer size isn't extreme and the hub remains within the wheel cavity all should be ok. You could get the same effect using wheels with a different offset rather than spacers.

Not seen any threads on here yet about bearing failures attributed to spacers and there are plenty on here who have them fitted.

Like it, it was a mod a did a while back -- you might want to try 10mm at the front too!

For the 20mm, I'm surprised you didn't for the 'dual' ones -- ie with one set of bolt to get the spacer on the hub, and another (the normal ones) set of bolts to get the wheel on the spacer (see http://www.dvbcaraudio.co.uk/wheel-spacers-c-752_1042.html ). I also installed steel ones to make sure the load problem @Bumpa mentions doesn't occur. *Personally* I'd be a little bit worried with bolts that long, and they'll take quite a bit of torsion -- but for all I know, it doesn't matter at all?

@Bumpa the spacers do make a hell of a difference to the looks, seriously... Especially from the back I have to say.

Neither will you, it's an old wives tale. Just keep a check on the wheel bolt torque for a few 100 miles and forget them.

Then you have 2 lots of bolts to make sure you have tightened correctly;). Start a poll and ask for anyone who has lost a wheel or damaged a wheel bearing through using 20mm. alloy hub-centric spacers to shout up. I'll be here waiting .................................:)

Looks good, stance now looks more appropriate for the wheel arch.

Interested to know if handling is improved, worse or no different?

See post #4 Jim. When I put these on my Z3 a few years ago the difference was instantly noticeable. Also when I swapped them over to my Z4 too. 40mm. wider track at the back and 28mm at the front on mine.

The fronts already fill the arches so no need for any .

No I don't think so, I've had 20mm spacers on mine for 3 years now and it's been no bother, wheel bearings have been fine on each MOT. I personally think they fill the arches out really well. Big improvement @Eddie Zedder
