As for water I had the same issue. Pull your seats forward or back cant remember which and find the join in the carpet, lift the joint (its joined with velcro) and reach down a couple of inch beneath the insulation. It is now yiu can find out how wet your car or floor is. When I did this I found water, the next steps are to remove the interior carpets...... hopefully yours will be ok.
