As you know I've recently acquired a lovely little facelift 2.8 from Niall. I'm a purest at heart and I'm a big fan of factory standard so with that in mind, I may and I emphasis may, change the interior and wheels to original spec. Before I do anything though I need to know if there is genuine interest at sensible prices for my interior and wheels (I would also need replacements).

Please PM me if you are.

I can hear a stampede in the distance!

I'd keep it the way it is but it's your car so do as you feel you need to. Your car is a pre facelift

I agree with you bringing it back to factory specs. What does the VIN config say? What seats and wheels did it have?

Just to clarify, they are genuine roadster seats (I know because Niall told me and he has a set in his roadster) to that end I'm not looking to do a straight swap for standard or sports seats without money coming my way as I know they are worth good money to the right person. That said they won't be going on ebay either as they will only be "offered" to someone on the forum.

@Gundun, I'll check the VIN later to get the specs.

thanks mate, there is absolutely no rush or certainty that I will swap them - I'm just seeing if anyone on the forum is interested. If nothing comes of it I'm more than happy to keep them in the car.

You will get plenty of interest in your seats and door cards. To the right person they are probably worth best part of £900-£1000 as they are in very good condition. I have seen them, I was there when Niall and Steve collected the car.
The wheels too are sought after but they are nowhere near as rare as your seats.

I can understand keeping it standard. Mines as near to standard as possible.
Each to there own of course, problem with customising once you start where does it end it can be a very expensive buisness indeed and in my case a 1.9 early car one could spend more than the cars worth.
Last year was an expensive year I think spending almost 1 k on what I considered a good example to start with.

To do list now rear discs and pads front drop links wheel refurb probably another 2 tyres at wheel refurb time and it's as perfect as a 20 year old car can be I have almost done all the jobs advised on at service time.
For myself personally keeping it standard but in perfect mechanical fettle is key.
It's costly enough just doing that especially as we can't do work ourselves and it's garage visits each time.
As said nothing wrong in standard but nothing wrong in customising if it's your thing and you have the funds.

Tracy.

I've seen some very impressive 'mods / customs' etc, including a Z3 with V8 power, but personally I want to keep mine as original as possible.
I suppose it's just a matter of choice. Of course , if anyone found an immaculate , very low mileage Z3 , then keeping it original as an investment would be the sensible option.

How long do you think someone would have to live to see any growth in their investment of a bog standard Z3 though Ken. Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking anyone who wants to keep a car "standard original spec" but as an investment?, ain't gonna happen.

Tony.

They are all roadsters, what you have are M spec seats and a pair sold on ebay for £1000 a couple of weeks ago

@t-tony I reckon I'll live long enough to see the growth of my 1.9, 60 years from now when you're all dead I'll be sitting on a gold mine with half a plastic window. ;)=))

Who pays this money for M spec seats? I've had a set and wish I hadn't sold them, and don't get me wrong there loads better than the standard spec but a grand it's just ridiculous. Nearly worth the same amount as a lower price range zed o_O

Oy, watch it you matey boy...:pompus:

The Z3 is a massed produced two sitter cabriolet built in large numbers just like the MX5 and the only ones worth anything are the ///M roadsters and coupes.

The two tone sports seats go for around £600 as long as they are in good nick
