Temp sensor?

Quick one - what is this? I found it rattling around in front of my radiator earlier when attending to something else (which i have since given up on for today).

It is connected off the the left side by the wires pictures - not sure if it should be mounted/inserted into something, but it looks like its been loose for a while judging by the dirt build up.

Is it a temperature sensor or am i wide of the mark?

On my M44 it sits on right next to the fog light on the left side. There’s a cap with a specific hole to it. If you’re getting wrong readings ( I had -40 degrees in the BC ) it’s a faulty temp sensor

If you need the repair wires/pins they are these ones, which aren't at all what it lists on the parts catalogue to go with the temp sensor :facepalm::

Excellent - no issues with it, I must have dislodged it somehow. I did notice a circular holder in the grille when i was down there trying to figure out what it was, so that would explain where it goes.

Still works fine as far as i can tell, so i'll stick it back where it belongs...
