Hi
I am going to be doing close on 2000 in June / July from UK to Switzerland.

I will be taking in quite a few of the mountain passes and want to make sure the car is as well prepared / reliable as possible.

It is a 1998 Z3 1.9 and has done 73k.

I will be doing a full service - oil and filter, air filter, plugs plus gearbox and diff oil changes. I have already put 4 new tyres on an checked brake discs / pads.

Is there anything else that I should be checking / changing as a precaution before I set off? Don't want to waste my hols waiting for the AA!

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks

Is that a big job? ( I'm by no means an advance mechanic!)
Might make sense considering the mountains and hopefully summer weather!

How much is the water pump and thermostat job?
I've read somewhere about vacuum pipework replacement, so I could use some guidance on that as well please...

In my case parts are about £90. FROM EUROPARTS .25% discount at mo...quote midmonth25 discount code.
Forgot drive belts /aircon being done as well

I also had the water pump changed on our last service last month. Made sure everything on the Ins 2 service was carried out even though we had everything done last year. Water pump is recommended to be changed after 70,000mls

let your car over heat and see if the fan kicks in ;)
