Hi Everyone,

I need to replace the rubber aerial grommet on my Z3, its perished and allowing rain in, I phoned various BMW dealers and nearly all once I mentioned the car and the part said " not a chance of getting one, they stopped making those years ago", at least it was good to speak to the parts department as im still waiting for one to call me back as they were too busy to take my call !!!!!!, I also emailed my request to Sopers via the link on this website, but havent had a reply yet. I found one for sale on Ebay for £12, I then decided to call Rybrook BMW in Worcester and spoke to Chris in the parts department who was ace, he found the part on the system, placed the order, it will be posted out to me by thursday for £7.95 !!!! Its good to know some main dealers are willing to assist the owners with older cars. And EBay is not always the cheapest
 
Yep varies between dealers but they are still stock - got one last year from my local dealer in Chester. Also replaced the inner one on a just incase basis but when I took the old one out it was still in good condition. If anybody needs one let me know - free to a good home. Part no 65218389555

Agree worth trying the dealers first most time.
Service items are usually cheaper on ebay or motor factors as long as you go for OE manufacturers parts. False economy going cheap on things like sensors from dubious suppliers.

I usually look up part number on real.oem and contact dealer with description and I think it's this number - please check. Surprised no reply from Sopers usually very good.
 
I have the same problem.

Will be looking for part number and ordering one next week hopefully.

Also have water getting into boot but don't know where.

Thinking maybe the roof?

Did you have a good look at the upper brake light Simon, a regular culprit for leaking into the boot.

3rd brake light seal try Sopers only a couple of £ and easy to fit or ariel grommet ,but I'll put money on the seal as you prob

Hi Grant, I needed a grommit and an antenna, rang Sopers yesterday afternoon with the part numbers off Realoem and picked them up this afternoon. £5.33 for the grommit, £21.98 for the antenna and £4.89 for a rubber stop for the fuel flap, +20% vat. Great service!

While fixing my aerial and looking for a non existent hood motor, I found this and wondered if anyone can tell me what it is -

The black bit on top is the exhaust flap actuator and the white thingy is the tilt sensor for the alarm.
 
Hi Eddie,

Thats great that they had them in stock, and the price is similar for the gromett, when you add the VAT and the postage , its a shame they didnt reply to my email, I would have prefered to use someone who supports this great forum.
