Supercharged Z3 1.9 Autoalex’s Taylor

Almost £7k is a lot of money, but lots of trick bits. I wonder whether the roof sill works with that roll cage.
 
Get the impression a lot of money has been spent on this, would a supercharged 1.9 be quick?
 
Forgive me, but I cannot see any point in that car whatsoever.
Why would anyone want to do those 'upgrades' to a base model 27 years old Z3?
I am all ears, cos I just do not get it.
