Sun 2nd Oct anything anyone?

What a lovely message @Grumpy :p
Very thoughtful ;)

I'm not an electrician but my logic says that if you have a battery drain while the car is resting it should be relatively simple to check.

There are circuits that are always live such as the alarm and these will draw a certain amount of power. If these circuits are drawing more than they should it can be investigated. A poor earth could be the culprit.

The supposedly dead circuits can be checked by removing each fuse in turn and then check if there is a power flow across the fuse holder. There should be none.

As I said I'm not an electrician and I may be over simplifying the problem, but it really shouldn't be difficult to trace it for a competent electrician.

If it's simple to find my drain how come no one's found it.
Everything has been checked.
Only slight draw on stereo which I assume they do for memory codes.
Tracy.

You want someone that knows Zed's that why i suggested the zed shed. Gaz and Lee work on these cars all the time so would be more likely to know than someone that works on multiple vehicles.

Try having a search around for a place that restores older cars. I had to do this to find someone to repair my wiring loom. Regular garages aren't really geared up for electrical work and are often too busy with fast turn around work.

But classic car places often are on different timescales and have the patience. I had to dig around and found a place that didn't even have a website (!)

You can try checking where the local owners of British and Italian classics go and make a few calls and chat with them, they generally very frank and honest about what they can and can't do and charges.

Has anyone tried disconnecting the alternator when it stands idle, that's the plug and charging cable I mean. Back feed through the diodes is possible which will draw on the battery.
