I had it all planned, fitted new head unit and speakers ready to add a combined sub and amp under the passenger seat today, went to collect it today and the guy in the shop said, "you do realise that it will sound crap don't you mate" asking why he said the bass will bounce all over the wires under the seat, so what are my options, I don't want a large bass bin in the boot, thanks

Bass is an indirect sound not sure how some thing designed to be under a seat doesn't work under a seat?
I would add that there is not much room under a zed seat so have wondered how this fits?. Can it not be mounted behind a seat. The boot of a zed tends to be quite air tight so a sub in the boot doesn't always work.
The sub box modification done by @Rha is an option i would personally design it to point he sub forward and in a way that leaves the trim standard then get some speaker material and stretch it over the exsisting lower cubby box front to form a grill like a H.K system.
Either a boot mounted amp or squeeze that under the seat.?

Bounce all over the wires??

Hmmmmm

If it fits under the seat your fine, but as ant says it might be better off mounted behind the seat

He said it would cause vibration, I might fit one to the rear bulk head behind the passenger as Ant suggested

There is no way you will get it under the seat, no matter how slim it just won't fit. I have one and its fitted behind the drivers seat (I can fit it there because I'm a short arse) and the bass bounces through the seat, which is actually quite nice o_O Your best option will be behind the passenger seat. You will probably need to get some wires through to the battery for the power and some to the headunit but it's pretty simple. Mine sounds great, I'm so glad I did it because even after changing all the speakers there was hardly any bass.

I will probably go along those lines, the speakers I have fitted sound fantastic on the top end but struggle with bass, thats why I want the sub, I was going to use the rear screen heater connection for the power supply, I think it was @littlefeller that suggested it at the zfest

Is that connection always live or does it need to be switched on with the switch?
I'm not entirely sure, it may well come on with the ignition if I connect to the switch connection

its on with ignition, then on to the screen via a switch, but the feed TO the switch is live with ignition, its not usually used for a sub as it is rated at 30 amp (good for 350 watts but no more) my idea was i wouldnt need more than 300 watts in such a small cabin, unless others know better. my aim is to put a sub where my cubby hole is, my chrome hoops have rendered it unusable anyway and when i fitted the hoops this was my reasoning for justifying them.

Surely it's always live, the switch will complete the circuit.

no its defo off with ignition, i have my usb supply coming from it which goes off with the engine. if it were live all the time you would flatten your battery if you left the de-mister on.

I didn't mean 24/7 I meant as long as ignition is on, and not just when the button is pressed

i supose either way would be fine, though having a switch for the sub would be useful, my usb is connected to the switch so i have the option of switching it off.

ok, i tried this today, the switch is used to trigger a relay, unfortunately the amp immediately blew the fuse, the wires for the heated rear screen are just not up to the job:(

choices are limited, looks like I will have to lift the carpet behind the seats (hood stowage area), not the easiest place to work, there is a rubber grommet in the passenger side - boot area going into the boot. I will be temporarily wiring mine into the external jump start terminal, simply because I want to run the sub in the foot well for a while to make sure I don't blow it again (don't want to have to keep rewiring it) this lets me set up/fiddle with the amp to get it how I like it, unless anyone can see a reason why not?.
