@Longhorn 123 Yes please mate. I still haven't sourced a replacement so anything will do at this point in time even if it means having an odd pair temporarily

I've sent you a PM

If anyone still needs fog lamps I have a pair of pre-facelift at £20 each plus postage.

Pre-facelift have smooth glass. Facelift have ribbed glass, presumably from lessons learned that it helps bounce small stones away without chipping the glass like the pre-facelift glass.

Ordered a set of aftermarket fog lamps which supposedly come with a one year warranty from eBay. Now we all know once the 60 day feedback period is over most sellers will try very hard not to honour that warranty as there is very little you can do once this period is over.

Anyway, after opening the package, as excited as I was I quickly came to realise that they were a pile of crap.

Sealant at the top of the lens isn't distributed equally with some areas that have no sealant and so would let water in.

The black plate inside the lens which holds the bulb is missing in one lamp and on the other lamp it's damaged.

The lens themselves have a chip in them.

And this is on supposedly brand new fog lamps!

I'm not being fussy am I?!

I ordered a set a year ago for the project from China which were quite good, not oem quality but very close, this I bought from a UK seller and the quality is absolutely appalling

Here's the listing. What I find interesting is that the item location is the UK, however clicking on the sellers profile it says based in China, wonder how that works.

I've sent the seller a message, now we wait for the reply...

Anyway I've sourced a pair of genuine OEM fog lamps from an early E39 that I'll be picking up this weekend.

I've not yet no, I'm just waiting to get a reply from the seller, if there isn't one I can make a claim via ebay who are usually quite good at settling things like this within the first couple of weeks of putting an order through.

Similar to my side lights really. With a bit of TLC they work, but they are'nt worth the money. I think the molds and tooling they used for a few years are just worn, and don't work that good anymore. Even the door-handle seals I got were quite poor.

You're right @buze if I had to I could remove the glass lens with a bit of heat and fit it to the old unit and then use some black silicone sealant around the edges to seal the unit but it's too much hassle for what will ultimately be not a perfect finish. I'd rather get my money back and buy an oem as they're relatively inexpensive to by used.
