In the process of what should a simple task, i needed t5o change the oil filter housing gasket on my M44, however one of the upper longer bolts securing it to the block, the one closest to the front of the car, is rusted/seized. It space out slightly, but i reckon any more pressure could shear the bolt. Ive tried heat, plugs, soaked for a couple of nights. All i can think of now is giving it some welly, and if the bolt snaps then try to extract it, unless it shears in the block. Any ideas?

Have you tried hitting the bolt on it’s end using large hammer and a punch (drift). Then try to tighten the bolt slightly before attempting to loosen it.

Hi Tony, yes i have tried shocking it, and tried tightening in and out, but the bolt feels like its twisting, near shearing possibly.
Chances are that there is a corrosion build up around the bolt then. Can you post a picture and point out which bolt is the problem?

You can feel the bolt twisting, so it’s likely seized in the bottom “collar” . Take all the other bolts out and see if, with some tapping, the whole housing will turn a little. If it does it’s not likely tho shear in the engine block and in that case I would turn it and see what happens.

I had same issue with the same bolt on my Dakar ended up getting it free with a bit of heat and perseverance problem is bolt quite long but only a 4mm so likely to shear if too much force applied this is definitely one that care is needed to remove or things could get messy fairly quickly.
