I've just purchased a set from Dave, as they are magnetic is it at all possible to stick a clear plastic film (cut to size) that can be removed easily onto the body of the car and then place the magnetic guards on the plastic film - given that it will still stick?
Could be possible. But when you take that part off it will not stick again..?

Obviously mine is not genuine paint work as I did it myself, the stone guards have been on a few months with no adverse effect,

I didn't fancy the magnetic type that's why I went for the stick on ones in carbon fibre which fit a treat

I've had them on for years with no issue (factory paint).

Hi dave, l was going to wash Gloria today but the weather has now decided to cut up rough so probably won't be getting car out until next weekend and will have a butchers then.. yours is the third set of magnetic stone guards lve fitted and although the first two sets were made by other people l never had any issues with them.. hopefully this is a one off issue relevant to the pain / clear coat on that particular car.. l am not unduly worried at this stage

Be prepared for the shock at the cost of chrome gills when you start looking. @HT has a brand new set still in the packing I believe he'll sell you( maybe?). HTH. JIM
