Hi Guys (and Gals) i have a 2004 z4 3.0 auto. with 140KMs on the clock that I recently had a electric steering motor rebuilt by ECU in England and installed successfully here in Australia. It lost steering altogether. Lots on the internet about this stuff.
Today is different though. Its getting harder to drive out on the open road. I have looked at the net spending a lot of time and with lots of experts lending their advice. I thought I would do a first and join a forum. Yep first timer here.
What's the go with the dreaded z4 "Sticky steering" . I have to hold 2 hands on the wheel out on the freeway to drive a somewhat straight line.
I have seen online fixes like rotating a ring type part of the column 10mm or so after undoing 2 hex type bolts that seem almost impossible to get at. And I've read installation of a grease nipple to lubricate dry parts (makes sense). To date I've done nothing.
I'm in Central Victoria and read online that these issues are worse in higher temperatures, however, my issue is bad in the middle of winter. Not looking forward to summer.
Anyway, that's about enough from me. if anyone can help here in Australia, I would be most grateful.
Thanks,
Greg
