If I leave my z3 3.0 for any longer than a week or two im finding the brakes are sticking when I get it out to play and have to rock it back and forth in first and reverse until it releases at which point its fine.

Any thoughts on how to stop this?

It seems to worse in winter. But that could be because its longer between drives.

Oh and its the rear brakes. Plus the calipers on both sides have been replaced i the past year.

Handbrake sticking on ? Did you replace the discs and pads at the same time ?

Do you leave it with the handbrake on?
The handbrake uses shoes inside the disc hubs, not the discs. Moisture on metal parts causes a film of rust which makes brakes stick.
I always leave mine with the handbrake off (although my fronts stick when it very damp for the same reasons).

I always leave it off as a precaution

Is it the handbrake that is locking?

As said, brakes can stick due to moisture/ condensation/ rust issues. You may need to adjust your handbrake to back the pads off the drums a bit, as even when off they may be sitting very close to the drum which would cause the issue. If your handbrake only needs one 'click' of the ratchet to hold the car well, that could be a sign of the handbrake needing backing off.

Ok probably the moisture and hand brake is guess, its more than one click but its actually a reasonable hand brake for a bmw of that age
