Hi. My Z3 2000 auto accelerator has started to stick and doesn’t drop the revs.
when I was cruising it was like having cruise control on. When braking it will drop and when idling but only down to about 1000. It jumped up to about 1500 idle when put in neutral.
move had the same on my Caterham when it gets hot and I had to take some fine emery paper to the air intake as the flap was distorting. Didn’t want to do this with comment from those with knowledge of Z3s
Thanks Gav

Hi Gav, which engine do you have some are flyby wire and some are throttle cable.

Thank you.
No problem, while you have the air intake removed up to the Throttle body, the idle control valve sits next to it. This will be worth cleaning to tidy up the idle. Remove it and run some carb cleaner through it till the weight moves freely.

Agree its either a sticking cable, run some lube into it, also check out the pedal pivots freely inside the car you will be surprised by the amount of grit that finds its way around the pedal. Good advice to wash the idle control valve out with carb cleaner, just take it off and flood it out with carb cleaner, once clean it should rattle if you shake it as the internal flap moves around.
