It's a standard prefacelift single stage airbag wheel, I prefer themLooks more like a sporty steering wheel with smaller airbag housing compared to the lorry wheel in the ///M
Looks great Alan, I'm sure you'll find it definitely improves the driving experience. Just wish the flat bottom option had been available back in August 2012 when I had mine done. Cost back then was £115 including VAT + a £100 refundable deposit, so the price seems to be very reasonable with the remodelling of the wheel for the flat bottom design.Another thumbs up for Royal steering wheels, I enclose the photo as @gookah asked to see the finished item.
That’s exactly what I didWish I hadn’t seen this.... now I want one with red inserts.
Thinks!!!!! I could take the steering wheel off while the car is SORN’d
Mmmmmmm!!!
There is padding on the steering wheel as it feels thicker than before. I just asked for black leather, whether it is Nappa I don’t know, but it feels good so that is good enough for me.Now I like that , is it nappa leather with extra padding ?
Totally agree and hate my standard wheel and I have exactly the same one on my other car being a 318 Ti. In both instances, the wheel is far too big and ugly. Surely there is an aftermarket wheel with airbag that is insurance friendly? Whereas the Royal solution looks nice enough if you like that kind of thing, making it fatter and chopping a bit off the bottom isn't a solution for meI know airbags are safety measures "for our own good", but I have never liked them or the idea of something hitting me in the face at mach 1 in a 15 mph fender bender. I also like the aesthetics of a lot of aftermarket steering wheels I 've had on previous cars pre-airbag requirement, like Nardi, Dino, Momo, and Grant. (Had 'em all on various cars), and would love to dress up the Z3 with one. Sadly, it's not illegal to swap one out, but it nullifies insurance, and I haven't found an insurer who will allow it without having to pay a really large monthly premium.
