Is there an American spell check applied to this site??
I get fed up of it questioning my spelling. Sorry Frankie, but it is the English language and I know that you folks in the colonies struggle with it at times.;) However, I think we 'Brits' should endeavour to maintain proper standards!

I wonder if it could be your computer or mobile that's giving you this problem

Not sure what you mean by your post, but the spell checker will be specific to your devices language settings.

In general though the forum has many international members, so we have to be accepting of the variations of "English". Pointing out general grammar/spelling mistakes will only cause problems & frustration for members.

Language evolves over time such that what was once common parlance becomes outdated and what was once slang becomes the norm.....woulds't thou not concur gentlemen and gentlewomen?

(But people who write "I should of done something" instead of "I should have done something" still drive me nuts.

Ha ha, thought that would stir a few people up!!! Actually I'm not sure why this 'site' keeps trying to make me use American spelling because I do not have this unwelcome interference elsewhere. Yes, I agree that language evolves, but some things are just plain wrong. Thank you Gail for that example which drives me nuts as well. The one that really winds me up are those people that insist on saying 'bought' when they mean 'brought' and vice versa. How anyone with half a brain can confuse the verbs 'to bring' and 'to buy' mystifies me.
Ah well, that's my rant for the day!!!

Still confused GazHyde, as when I type 'colour' on here it wants me to write 'color' . This is only happening when I use this site ???
'IT' is not my strong point so I don't know what the problem is, guess I'll just live with it.
By the way,I would not dream of criticizing anyone's spelling on here.It is more important that people are free to express their opinions.

I need a disclaimer on my posts - similar to what I have at work:

"XXXXXXX is an equal opportunity employer.

QXXXXX XXXXXX has been diagnosed as being dyslexic.

Therefore please bear this in mind if this document contains any grammatical errors."

By the way,I would not dream of criticizing anyone's spelling on here.
I appreciate that, just wanted to clarify in what context you posted. The written word is very unforgiving when people all read things differently! Misreading of a post is probably the biggest cause of moderators having to roll their sleeves up

Luckily everyone on here is really nice and don't make that happen often :D

As a final check on individual posts - spell check and grammatically check the thread manually before posting - job done. :D
Christmas is coming!:hohoho:

Ooh dear, I bet scrabble is fun in your house. (had to self censor... I didn't want any sleeves being rolled up) ;)
