Speedometer, Odometer and Cruise - Dead

Took to local guy and he replaced the differential sensor. It didn't help. He thinks it is something to do with the speedometer itself and having to replace the cluster. When I run the cluster "test", all needles move as they always have. Thoughts?

1997 2.8 Z3
 
I have the same problem and positive cluster test, I will be trying to figure it out this weekend and will post any results.
 
Perhaps there is a grounding issue between the diff and the rest of the body?
