I removed the spare wheel and carrier from my Z 3 this morning. Funny isn't it how cars differ? Reading other people's write ups on doing this job, most seem to have had an easy job until they tried to disconnect the lowering cable. On mine it was the opposite, the hinge bolt was well rusted and took a lot of WD40 plus fiddling about to get it off. On the other hand the screw in cable connection was as clean as a whistle and screwed out easily like a new one.
One point I'm thinking over is what to use to blank off the two holes I now have in the boot floor. I can make some plates to bolt through with rubber seals I suppose. Just wondered what others have done.
Also, what is recommended about the wheel and carrier? Is it wise to keep it in case (heaven forbid) I sell the car? Do people sell them, does anybody want them? They just seem to be a waste of space to me.
