Some what annoyed

I'm sure I'll get chance to discuss this further with you at some stage. My opinion on this is to just buy a zed with a bigger engine unless you have a LOT of money to throw around. The biggest issue will be finding somewhere that is prepared to carry out the work. It's a relatively straight forward swap 6 pot for 6 pot, but going from a 4 pot to a 6 pot will involve much more effort. Not just in engine/gearbox/drive train but also in upgrading the suspension and braking system to match.

Moving up to a V8/V10 is going to involve a huge amount of work including custom fabrication of certain parts, and strengthening of others. Basically money pit.

I don't want to sound negative about the idea, but buying a bigger engined Zed is just cheaper and easier long term!

If you want more power the advice on buying a faster car is a good one. I went the V8 route and it was a far bigger job than I expected. £12k for the engine installed and then you have to think about upgrading other stuff on the car. Its taken me 5-years to get it running trouble free, confirmed just today with a good trouble free run out. The reward is ace though if you were daft enough to do it lol. I have been considering adding forced induction but that's a thought for the winter months when I have forgotten how quick it is. I think ~550 hp is enough for a zed. There is a guy in aus building a Z3/ LS3 with a charger aiming for 800hp.

Hi yup watched your vid, hats off that is one superb build. It just looked brutal putting its power down, my idea was to stay with the BMW V8/10. How do you handle the power in the wet?

Hi Andy I prefer not to drive in the wet given a choice it spins the wheels easily. You get used to the power and I have done suspension mods that make it predictable and easier to recover when it does let go.

Another thing I don't understand with the Z3 air intake is why BMW took it over the rad. There is the same opening on the same side as the air box so surely using this would have made sense. Thats unless I am missing something anyone have any ideas?

If it was me i'd keep the 4 pot and turbo it, you then can choose power/price to suit your time and pocket as it should be possible to turbo from just a couple of grand and that turbo rush its highly addictive :p

Hi yes I saw it, was thinking about it as a donor car. The thing is I love the colour of mine and want a Z in that colour. So if I get something else an expensive respray would be on the cards.
