Have used Wet & Forget on my very mouldy E46 roof a couple of times now over the past 8 years and it's amazing. Just spray very liberally on a clean and dry roof and let it sit overnight, when not raining. Then you can do a normal clean and seal and it'll last a few years.

I use Milton, (the stuff for sterilizing baby bottles), get it in liquid form from Superdrug etc. Use the mix for sterilizing, put it on your roof, scrub it with a nail brush, leave it for @ 15 mins or so, rinse, repeat. When it is dry, apply 2 coats of Fabsil gold, to waterproof it.
I use this system on SWMBO's Z, the daughter's Beetle cabrio, and my SAAB conv. All with great long lasting results. For aftercare, dont scrub it with any detergents, just hose it off.
