Soft Top Renovation

Hi,

Has anyone used any of the products available to bring the soft top back to life and looking new. Mine is starting to look its age but in good condition....is it better to replace...if so..where is best for good product at a reasonable price or are the kits such as Renovo any good.

I used the Autoglym kit to very good effect on my Z3.

Used Renovo cleaner and then colour restoration many years ago on a black soft top and it looked awful, where the material had rub marks from years of folding, it just made those areas shiny. I ended up replacing the soft top.

Its worth a try, but advise thoroughly cleaning first, in fact a really good clean can make a big difference.

Agreed. Try using Milton Baby bottle cleaner to get rid of any staining.

The cleaning products are good but I'd body swerve the "reproofing" agents. All they do is prevent water from getting to the waterproof membrane, it'll eventually dry out and crack then you'll need a new roof

What is the jack smith roof made of? There's a few different materials, canvas, twill weave vinyl and others. 2 ply, 3 ply etc?

Word to the wise about Renovo colourants- do NOT get any on the paintwork. My Alfa Spider in red had black stains from a previous owner's attempt. Never really got rid of the black patches.
