The soft top sometimes does not want to open. After persistent pushing it will move and then closes and opens freely. I changed the dash switch. Are there any other microswitches in the circuit associated with the first manual opening that might need changing and if so where are they please.

It sounds like you are talking about the powered Z3 top and not a manual one.

There are two switches in the circuit:
- The brake switch, uses the same contacts as the brakes lights, so it id easy to test.
- Soft top tension release micro switch, located on left side of the top above the passengers door. If it is the switch you can jump the wires to see if it fixes the problem. The wire running down the side of the top sometimes break due to repeated movement.

I have the opposite issue with the microswitch. Mine seems to do nothing and lets the hood open even if it is not free. Something I need to look at.

You may find that the microswitch has been removed after possibly being faulty and wires just crimped together
