So, Who's Been Where this Bank Holiday?

Sorry to hear about that Garry, it's sad that you're "too young" to have this done now while you're young and fit enough to recover from the operation well. I guess these joints replacements still only have a relatively short life?:(

Tony.

Cheers Tony, looks like years of keeping fit playing football, tournament karate and running has had the opposite effect. Should have sat on my arse for 20yrs and I'd be ok =))

Makes you think like that mate. Shirl has been to the Dentists today and she drinks quite a bit of slightly fizzy flavoured water and he tells her that is damaging her teeth, not the sugar etc. but the carbonating of the water. News to us.

Tony.

I know a guy Garry who had the same problem and was told the same, basically they're saying you're not worth it as they don't want to do it twice. He changed his doctor who could clearly see his predicament and got him in for surgery pretty quick, he was younger than you too. Apparently they grade you on years of productivity left as to whether you're worth spending money on, a 20 something with the same complaint would be in pdq.. Try putting it to a new doctor.

Jill had a problem through drinking Guinness except she fell over while she was pished and broke her nose =))

She said it wasn't because she was pished it was because she was carrying a shopping bag in each hand and her nose broke her fall. Gods honest truth mate, I kid you not=))

Bad news Garry. I'd be talking to another doctor about it. "To young?" You need it, it should be available to you mate.

I think it just depends where you are in the country Garry. I have three friends who had knee replacements at about your age. Seems crazy that they wouldn't do the operation on somebody of working age,but would on an OAP. I thought government policy was to keep people working and off benefits.
Anyway, hope you are not in too much discomfort.Knees can be painful as I know, had two knee 'ops' in my footballing days.

I know where you are coming from Garry. I was 45 when they told me I needed a transplant but was too young. Just turned 69 and after watching my wife suffer for the past 5-6 yrs due to a botched knee replacement surgery and hoping now that she can get some adjustments done to give her more than 90* of bend. Me, I pop morphine twice a day and work like crazy to keep the muscles around that knee strong and stable. I won't be going in for surgery anytime soon, it will be a last resort! Good luck! JIM
