So what’s the breakdown in Zed types between members (active and otherwise)?

There is definitely a biased towards z3 models on this forum .
Personally i think there is various reasons for this primarily would be the z3 is the oldest and the types of owners they attract are more hands on as the 3 is that bit older and requires some ongoing restoration and a number of owners come from mazda mx5 , mgb and the likes cars that require tinkering.
There is a growing number of z4 as they start to get into a similar category so as time goes on there will become a growing database for E85
The E89 is still seen to be a modern car and as such a lot of the owners have as second car but they are not in the car scene and dont go to meets or join forums but again as time goes on this will also change as you start to get a different type of owner.
And as others have said there is a strong community spirit on here and a number of members dotted around the country myself included who are more than happy to use their time and knowledge to help out other owners no matter what zed they have and obviously this in turn strengthens the community spirit
Speaking personally i enjoy the contribution i make to the forum as i now do a number of regular activities.
I run Picture of the Month on here ,
do 2 full weekend runs a year ( spring and autumn) and i suppose i run Zedshed Scotland and help other members in need only problem with here is Scottish members are that bit more scattered than in other parts of the country but help out where I can.

As for your comment about how much non z3 content we would like to see.
I say the skies the limit because it all grows the knowledge base on here and like i said even though z3 models probably make up 2/3 of the members all other z models combined make up the rest i think you will see more e85 and e89 ( and g29 @Argyll Andy;) ) owners as time goes on.

Current zeds
Z3 1.9 ( m43) Dakar individual
Z3 1.9( m44) Turquoise Green auto
Z3 2.8 ( m52 tu) Orinoco individual

Z3 M Coupe
I'm one of a small number of Z3 M Coupe on here, I joined in 2011 even when I didn't own a Z at the time but had a E46 M3. After nearly 4 years of owning the M3 (the grandkids who I thought I needed it for only sat in the back no more than 5 times) and since I was looking to retire in 2012 it made sense to go back to 2 seater again. I had owned a Z3 M Coupe for 4 years before the M3 so it was going to be another M Coupe if I could find one. Purchased my current Coupe in 2012, turned out to be identical to my first one in every detail, but was 6 months newer.
I've found over the years I've used this Forum for it to be a valuable source of information as a lot issues I needed to address with the Coupe were common to the Z3 Roadster.
Also although there are lots of contributors I've never met I feel that I'm part of a great bunch of like minded owners who never fail to come up trumps if I have a query or just have a bit of banter.
Long may it continue.

Z3 2.2 Kobra rebody (see pic)
I came to this forum before I owned a zed but knew I was going to get a Z3 and then be naughty to it.

I presume that there are Z4 more specific forums out there which explains why this is a more weighted to the 3 content.

What struck me is that this is a friendly and very helpful place to be. And forgiving to those not wanting to keep their cars OEM. In fact allowing and creating a safe haven for us rebody people has meant that here is becoming, other than a FF group or two, the best place to come to share ideas etc.

There is an old forum with great subject matter detail but it has fallen into the doldrums so I come here instead.

Oh and we naughties are still in need for beemer bits under our monsters ;)

I came here once I had bought my Z3 as it seemed Z3 focussed. I suspect there are more Z3’s represented on here than Z4’s. I can see that quite a few key contributors have graduated from Z3’s to Z4’s over the years, but the Z3 knowledge is still here.
The big advantage on here as opposed to some of the many FB Z3 groups is that there is some order to it. People tend to ask for advice on the FB groups and get a real mixed bag of responses, most of which is just silly banter that doesn’t really help. Almost every question I’ve ever seen asked on a FB group could have been answered by searching this forum.

And then there are weirdos like me who have gone the other way! :)

I like 'forums' as HATE Facebook in general and FB car groups are just confusing to me. Just a list of messages with no real interaction. I have quite a few 'virtual' friends on several car based forums and enjoy the 'banter' immensely.

I don't do face FB as such but do put stuff on Marketplace, and if the majority of "buyers" on there represent the majority of the rest of FB, that's why I won't bother. By late this afternoon I hope to have proof of the exception to the rule.

FB Marketplace is like the modern Wild West. They really do need to regulate it more, as it has become 'scammer heaven'.

I agree, FB obviously couldn't care less about the authenticity of advertisers. When you look at a page of ads and the same car is advertised by a different person all over the UK at the same time surely someone would think it must be odd!

My faith has been restored because the chap arrived on time, with the cash and didn't try to haggle once here. Happy seller.

I had a z3 for 7 years and spent all my time here bugging the life out of anyone who'd listen 🤣. I sold it 3 years ago and pretty much disappeared from the forum. I've recently bought a z4 from the Zed shed south guys and was straight back here and welcomed back with open arms by many who I knew from before.
Says a lot, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else when it comes to Zeds and haven't looked to do so. It's a great forum with proper peeps. (Well some anyway) 🤔😉
