So what’s the breakdown in Zed types between members (active and otherwise)?

I see a few folks with a Z3 and a later Zed.

Wonder given so many different Zed related social media sites why folks land and stay here?

Part of my question is related to how much non Z3 content folks would like to see?

Discuss..😂🤔

Why do people land and stay here?
I'm surprised you need to ask tbh.
This is likely the most social car forum out there. Are there such things as "Sheds" on any other forums where members can get their cars repaired for little more than the cost of parts? I haven't heard of any. As an example, I am about to invest in a floor mounted hydraulic coil spring compressor for other people's use not mine.

I have the 4 pot E89, I find this site a mixture of knowledge, friendly assistance and banter. I like there's a cross section of ownership, and that all the various models are present.

If ever you need to find out about something, theres probably an article where its been done before. If not, ask a question and there are some very knowledgeable people here who are very generous in sharing.

The cherry on the top is when some get togethers are arranged, whether meets, car shows, zed sheds and the occasional access to tracks. Just have a look at the upcoming events and join in if so inclined, it's a very welcoming group.

I find that with social media, you ask a question and you receive a shotgun response from a 100 or so people who had something similar go wrong with their car. One of those 100 responses will be correct.

On this forum, there are experts willing to help who can track down the problem very quickly.

I like the "Resources" section of the forum with lots of technical posts. Something that social media struggles to do.

Plus this site is searchable, so you can find relevant posts.

Then there are the forum members, a social bunch, who like a joke and are eager to lend a hand.

There is one. As far as I can tell most members of the "zedsheds" are on both forums. ;)
You say "both" forums, there are many more than 2 BMW Z forums out there, but I was referring to different makes or marques really. I am a member of 4 such BMW forums myself and a good few members of these are visitors to our place, and any are welcome. All I ask is that I don't end up out of pocket.

Agree with comments above, I'm on a couple of others, but I think this is the best. Many Z3 owners on here , but plenty of E85 and E89s as well as coupe owners. Many of us have had Z3 s and Z4 s. If it's a problem or general maintenance of these cars the information will be on here.

Lucky enough to have a Z3 and a Z4 and operate a Zedshed Cymru here in South Wales which is run to help members with jobs on their cars.
This Forum is the best one I have found but also use Z4-Forum frequently. Good crowd on both Forums and help and advice is just a click away.
Much prefer the Forums over the Social Media sites out there although I do dip into them from time to time when I spot something that I can offer advice on.

There's always the 'rich kid'. ;)

How are you bud?
Translated into finance eligible one 😉 =))

So so tbh, a few things going on but hey ho. Hope you and all of yours are well? Well except of course “mini” yous wheels

Really enjoying following your re body journey. Knowing your perfectionist tendencies it will cause you plenty of headaches but will be so well sorted by the end. I’m only hoping that Mrs P leaves you enough in the divorce to finish it after you’ve driven her even further up the wall =))

not one to disagree with you usually tony but in this case I'll make an exception, I was a member of the 350Z forum from 2012 when I owned a 350Z then a 370Z and they had exactly that a Z Shed based in dorset fantastic guy used to run that (Keyser) not sure if he still does but much like this forum very friendly must be something about Z's in general because most other forums are not friendly in fact they are full of arseholes.

What to add? This forum is many things to many people. Its a point of reference for fault finding and as said many times above there are a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people on here that will point you in the right direction, including those that can and will get the spanners out and help you fix the problem if you are close enough. It's also a place to exercise your social needs and to make new friends and join in at meets and runs out, there is a sense of community here.

I have over the years looked at other forums mainly out of interest and have found them to be somewhat snipey, on occasions rude and condescending towards people with less knowledge than themselves and therefore I decided not to remain. It's also quite nice that we can take the p*ss out of each other on here, in jest, and its taken in the way it's intended and always returned  , there's no malice unlike some other forums and especially the social media sites that are full of armchair mechanics and keyboard warriors.

The lack of any snobbery is also a key factor whether on the forum or at meets no one is going to run your Zed down because its not in perfect condition and yes I have seen this happen on other Zed forums and was totally amazed to see it and for the admin to allow it, wouldn't happen here, Admin would be offering his council if it did.

As for your final point, there is quite a lot of non Zed content posted and personally always happy to see it in the General Banter section.

Totally agree Niall, in fact couldn’t have put it better. As I said yesterday I’m on 4 Z forums (at present) but the vast majority of my time is spent on here. As for Social media, I don’t, mainly because it isn’t.

The title of this thread "What's the breakdown of zed types between members" maybe somebody who knows how could set up a vote thing where everyone can click to say what model(s) they have and we'd have some statistics.
