Only be a Geordie if he was wearing a tee shirt with the shorts. If he had a jacket on was definitely from down south, like Middlesborough.
We moved to north east from the Midlands 30 years ago and were amazed at the winter dress code of young people. Lads in tee shirts and girls in short mini dresses waiting at bus stop and its snowing, not a coat in sight. We had thick coats, scarve, hats and gloves.
They don't feel the cold when they are pished.

Used to think (being a soft southern w**ker) that it was a cliche about them northern types wearing next to nothing in winter. Then I went up there for a New Year bash with some friends
blimey it's true. Think I'll stick to hat/coat/gloves. And leaving the roof UP when I go out soon.

Apparently many roads south of Rugby were blocked or very slow this morning. Working from home instead.
