Even the Sahara desert freezes at night at this time of year and yes, it does snow there as well.

Are you related to Jeremy Vine? Controversial on purpose. Average winter temp in Rome is 8 C so snow is not that common and 760 k away

No, I worked in Koper on the Adriatic coast in Slovenia (ship loading inspection) for quit a few years, borders on Austria and Italy.
Never seen snow like it up here in the Netherlands, had some interesting drives from the airport down to the coast and even there snow was on the hills around the port. Never seen so many snowplow depots when driving down a motorway.
Also the first time I have sat in planes on the runway getting de-iced before take off.

Worked for a year in Libya in the Sahara and during the winter mornings the ice and sand would stick to the tires on my 4x4 and I needed to wear winter clothing.
 
It's a tad chilly if I'm honest, snow in this cold will settle and will need a good effort to keep the roads/airports etc clear. The UK is not set up for it as it's just not financially viable for the few days a year we get it. I do believe in 1956 (ish) we were 3 days away from being bankrupt due to massive amounts of snow?

Meanwhile down the Falklands 30 years ago, international penguin rescue in force :whistle:

:sorry: sorry mate, not really :sorry: it's a gaggle of wooden penguins outside the airfield Fire Station with their own zebra crossing to Air Traffic Control. I'll get me coat :D

National Paddock I aiming for 10:30 ish to see some of the piston head cars
I will be driving a ZCAR in the 2nd session :D
