They will no doubt fit but will not be right. Not sure of the outcome, either too high a ride height or too hard a ride.

Quite possibly but motor factors do sometimes make a small compromise and make parts to do more than one job.
Just as a matter of interest, the old set of M Sport (factory) springs from my car were fitted to a mates 2.0 4 Cyl. E85 Z4. Lowered it slightly, improved the handling no end and wasn't a hard ride either.

I follow and agree with your thinking. 4 cylinder springs are different to 6 cylinder. I would think they would be harder but whether that translates into too hard I don't know.

Changed mine on my 2.0L last year, Sachs springs are the same part no for 1.9/2.0/2.2 but different for 2.8/3.0. They are also different for cars with auto g/box.

I stand corrected, surprised though. The bmw tag on the 2.0 and 1.9 springs I have are different numbers.

Logically the springs should be "harder" for the 6 cylinder cars, due to the significant extra up front weight.:)

Like I said, manufacturers make a compromise and you would hardly know the difference.
