Hi Rudy, I'm coming over to Florida soon so I can bring one and post it to you when I get there if that's ok? Just going out for a pint now, talk to you later.OK, I have a the pump and fittings in my car, it comes on when the engine is cold for about a minute and then shuts off.
I think I would like to remove it, how do I get myself a blanking plate?
Didn't get any problems after removing the one on my 2000 2.0 Rob, that's all I have to go on.Horrible nasty things. I like keeping things factory standard but that's the one thing I would get rid of if I had a car with it on.
Note if you remove the gubbins you will quite possibly be causing an error 62 open circuit on the DME. I started getting this error after my engine swap and I don't even have the system! So it presumably gets upset with a missing or incorrectly wired system.
I'm still trying to figure out what caused that error. But it doesn't seem to have any consequence (no EML light for instance) so it's lower down my list of priorities.Didn't get any problems after removing the one on my 2000 2.0 Rob, that's all I have to go on.
Tony.
ps. I hear the Swan whispering my name. Later guys.
No worries mate, please PM me your postal address and I'll send you one and give you my PayPal email. Thank you.Hi Tony I will take 1 please if you have 1 still available.
It might be a peculiarity of that DME version/build (2.2) in conjunction with me screwing a connection up.I had no errors on the 2.0 or 2.8 after removing mine, just got rid of the awful noise.
The only reasonable explanation I have is that my car is a late model (2002) and the engine wiring harness came from a slightly older car. Neither had secondary air pumps. It’s interesting the E46 owners on the M54 report an error on some too but not on a Z3 E36 M54. So I wonder what the programming difference is as the internal electrics are different too.
