Something reminded me about blanking plates for the port on the cylinder head for when you remove the obsolete smog pump from your car. I currently have 3 ready to post at £6.00 Inc. P&P.
PM me if you want one.

I took the one off mine because the bearings in the pump motor got horribly noisy Andy. It is not required here in Europe and was only fitted so that they could be driven in certain US states inc. California. All extra weight that you don't need to carry around. If your car has this it will be behind the O/S headlight mounted on the inner wing, and connected to the cylinder head capsule by a 1" rubber hose.
The blanking plate is for the port on the cyl. Head when you remove the capsule. All you need to do is unplug the cable and a small vacc. pipe the needs blocking off.

This is the one on my 3.0 @Andy McDonnell Big beast and I think the air circulation would be better in the engine bay with it gone.

This might help people to see what a blanking plug does, take the pump unit away and fit where the pump has been taken away. Then throw the pump over the neighbours fence, they fly like a plane just like they sound when the break.

Yes they are perfect, giving people and idea how much space the thing takes up. Just going to put the power lead back up to the loom and tape it in and as you have done, get a rubber blank for the little vacuum feed pipe.

There is a thread open on this Dave, I'm struggling to figure it out fully. I know what's wrong, just don't know how to fix it yet! It doesn't seem to cause issues with all Flickr links oddly (although not just flickr is affected).

I took mine off but put it back as it leaves the mount and a bloody big gap.

@Sean d I am going to be using the mount for the perfect place to fit the Day Light Running light control unit. So it won't go to waste.

OK, I have a the pump and fittings in my car, it comes on when the engine is cold for about a minute and then shuts off.
I think I would like to remove it, how do I get myself a blanking plate?

Horrible nasty things. I like keeping things factory standard but that's the one thing I would get rid of if I had a car with it on.

Note if you remove the gubbins you will quite possibly be causing an error 62 open circuit on the DME. I started getting this error after my engine swap and I don't even have the system! So it presumably gets upset with a missing or incorrectly wired system.
