So I put £30 in the zed before going to @t-tony at the weekend and soon noticed a very strong fuel smell, it became apparent that it was when I was cornering particularly on left handers, this went on all day, I kept checking the car under the engine bay and all around, on the way home I went into the red and still got the smell, stopped at a fuel station and put £10 in, drove 15 miles home with no smell at all, took the car out yesterday to double check, threw it round lots of left handers and still no smell whatsoever, I'm a bit stumped what caused it as I checked the filler cap and thats the only thing that changed when I fueled up, my MPG was terrible as well so I was definately losing fuel somewhere.

Most likely the fuel filler cap, it's easy to not seat it properly, done this a couple of times.. I've been meaning to change the gasket on the cap but it doesn't leak as long as I close it properly.

check the fuel filler drain hole. Sometimes petrol sits in the rubber gasket and doesnt drain away.

The fuel filter is under the passenger side, On my old 2.8 I had one of the rubber connections split so it's worth a check, there's very few places that's not hard piped in.
