Hi all I've just bought a e46 steering wheel that I've fitted on my bmw z3 looks and feels fantastic but I need to make some adjustments to the wheel to make the slip ring fit and wiring if anyone has done this upgrade or any tips before I attempt it would be appreciated thanks

I've managed to make the E36 MFW work - no idea about this one though - is this i-Bus?

Thanks for imput my main concern at the moment is getting the slip ring/boss to fit the e46 wheel, at least the indicaters will turn off, then I can wire the horn up (straight forward) then the only thing I would like to work off the wheel is the volume, sorry must go to work now I will attempt it all the weekend

I did it a long time ago on the 3.0 and it only works with single stage airbag, dual stage cars you can do if you wire up a resistor to trick the ECU, managed to get the buttons for the CD 43 to work but still need to work on the cruise. I am planning to do this on my M at some point so I will take pictures and try to do a write up next time.

Thanks Mario I hear what your saying photos and a read up of how you went about it would be fantastic, I've been driving it now for 3 days and their is absolutely no way I'm going back to the old z3 over sized steering wheel, this one makes you feel like your in a sports car

I used a 7 pole slip ring from an e39 you need to figure out if that steering wheel is ibus or not then its easy to do

OK cool I will look into it, so the e39 slip ring fits without defacing anything

OK update I got it working today using the old slip ring off the old wheel off the z3 I now have the horn working and indicaters turn off some manufacturing to the wheel but all good, one step at a time for me at the minute

If you got the old wheel working provided the new wheel is ibus you just need a 7 pole slip ring and wire an extra cable on the connector
