I've always been pretty critical of skip divers, I mean, why would you want other peoples junk?

Yesterday afternoon I was driving past one of the stores in the Navy dockyard and lo and behold there was a loaded skip outside. As I drew level I saw what looked like a toolbox so I stopped and had a gander.

On closer inspection the toolbox was busted but it wasn't completely empty. In managed to rescue a set of metric combination spanners 10-24mm and a nearly full set of imperial AF combination spanners.

Also rescued a further 3 tool cases (empty) and then saw what looked like a new pair of wellies still in a sealed plastic bag. They weren't my size so I left them. Underneath though, was a brand new pair of Nato issue size 10W leather and cordura combat boots. One boot was soaking wet as the bottom of the skip had half a foot of water in it but they were too good to ignore.

They are drying out on the radiator at my digs now.

I think I've found a new hobby =))

Nowt wrong with that unless the water was biological waste:D

A mate of mine once relieved a skip of a dog guard which he fitted in the back of his Austin Maxi works car. Someone saw him and reported him to the Plod and he had to go the Magistrates court in Gainsborough charged with theft. He got a fine too. Beware skip divers.

Tony.

What crazy f*** would put a guard dog in a skip ?

Devonport is likely to be the same as many other establishments, skips are often used by workers to get rid of stuff. Mondays are good when people have "cleared out" their rubbish at home over the weekends. Its actually a costly issue for management, can't really see a problem with people recycling stuff but beware contamination if you are so minded.

Thought that was the Skoda Estelle Cabrio?

Tony.

They'll wind up being "classic cars" one day, just like all the other s4ite that gets labelled that way. Just because a car escapes the scrap-yard doesn't make it worth having. Said the bloke who had not one but two Morris 1000s.

My brother owns my late mama old Moggy Traveller. Hateful thing.
