I cannot find any of those which are made specifically for the s50 engine. They are generic. The simota is made for the s50 engine so may perform better.

The K&N is specific and does not, the Simota is further restricted by surface area, all you need to do is identify your neck diameter, and buy the corresponding piper cross filter, then it will be S50 specific.

That's interesting. I wonder what the stock one airbox would look like on there?

What about level of filtration? Would the less restrictive ones be that way at the expense of filtration?

And will there be danger of hot air getting in without a heatshield?

So, which is better...

Pipercross - better air flow but without heatshield?
Simota - less air flow than pipercross, but with heat shielding from engine bay?

For the M44 it's the Piper Cross, there was no under bonnet heating effect when measured during driving. I think it's like all mods, plenty of people who will advise on them, but not many who have done them, as a consequence the myths begin to grow, it's like the one that says they don't add power, of coarse they do, it's just not going to feel like an //M.

You need to compare the Piper Cone with the Simota, not the panel

Ive bought a simota, and currently run the pipercross panel ( which incidentally was an improvement on oem in terms of sound and performance). Ive bought the simota now so not going to change, its light, looks very well built and contrary to some posts on here has a huge surface are due to its shape, and size. Maybe ill try a piper cone on the z4m.

Still waiting for it as it's on back order. Will do a comparison between the oem and the simota when it arrives.

How are you going to compare?

Dyno / temperature gauges?

Just playing devil's advocate as you have paid your money and might as well go with it.

Yes its being remapped to get the best out of the induction, plus getting the vanos done. So well do a before an after with both.
