I'd get them off to see what lurks beneath. Not too expensive to replace, I paid £110 A side for mine (less paint). If it's rusted through, as they, do it may well be beyond repair.

If its only a small amount they can be saved if you are handy with a mig, I did mine but apparently I'm an alchemist before and after

Best take the covers off and see what lurks behind, if you are lucky its just the outer sill cover. Stripping is well documented on threads on here and elsewhere, https://zroadster.org/threads/sill-removal-and-rust-prevention-wiki-entry-added.373/ I detailed how I removed mine on the other site with pictures

Make sure you have some new trim clips to hand, bound to break some when stripping them out.
