I was woken up at 4 this morning :p
By the sound of beep a minute went by then beep :(
The sound continued....... :(
So I then had to get up to have a wee and a drink =))
It was our fire alarm ( the battery was running low ) :)
I woke Alan and told him but within minutes he was asleep again :(
The sound continued until he got up at 6.30 to go to work :)
he's now taken the battery out :):)
So I've got peace ;)
But I couldn't go back to sleep with that beeping every minute :)
But I've still got the beeping sound in my ears =))
New battery to get today :)

Sorry @Shelly but telling off time, 6 out of 10 people that died in house fires in London Fire Brigade statistics didn't have a fire detector fitted ( flat battery would fall into that catagory). Test it every month and change the battery every year. You can buy then with an integral battery fitted that will last 10 years or contact your local fire brigade who will supply and fit them for free

:):):):)

We had ours fitted 3 years ago when we had the bungalow rewired :p
The battery is just the back up as it's wired into our mains ;)
The fire alarm is very sensitive which is a good thing :)
But beep beep at 4 in the morning :(
Gives me a headache especially when I didn't get home till 11.30 last night ;)
We will get a couple of new battery for it today :)

We only need one battery :p
But we will keep the other as a spare :)

Used to annoy me often. The battery fails when it's coldest. That's usually in the middle of the night.
We had one wired into the burglar alarm instead.
It gets tested every year. Doesn't need a battery change or monthly testing.
If there were a fire, the whole street gets to know about it. Thankfully all our neighbours respond to alarms whatever the time because they're so rare.

That's a good idea @Redline :p
It's good that all your neighbours respond to the alarms too :)

Nobody close-by would sleep through it anyway if the smoke detector goes off. The bell goes on and off every second rather than staying on and it doesn't cancel after twenty minutes.
We feel far safer than relying on 9V batteries alone.
We do have to be careful when grilling things like bacon and sausages though. The whole street would soon know we're having a fry-up =))

Yes we have to shut our kitchen door :p
When we cook ;)
As ours is very sensitive ;)
In our other house it was battery for a few years then Alan wired it into the mains :)
But when we moved here the bungalow had to be rewired so ours is in the mains too :)
Much safer ;)

Same with the ones at the villa to meet fire code. We have had to replace 3 up to now. Easy to change, like a bayonet type fitting and around $15 apiece.

Tony.

I can appreciate it Shelly I had some Medical students making a racket at 01:00 hrs and had a politish word but after that had to listen to some numpty puking untill 03:00 I'm sure calling mommy but once woken and annoyed so difficult to sleep all before a 14 hour shift on ITU and ended up making a boo boo due to tiredness but no harm done just embarrassment for me so annoyed.

Poor you @Althulas :p
It's horrid not getting enough sleep :(
Especially when it's through someone else's noise :)

Always keep a baseball bat or a large hammer by your bed to aid sleep, Shelly!! it fixes all known sounds that interrupt your sleep, Alan snoring, Burglars and loud annoying fire alarms glitches!!! Does not work on pigeons though unless you're a good shot!!!

Mike,

I'll get Alan to make me one out of the spare wood from his shed @EnthuZiaZT :p
You know he can turn his hand to anything :)
