hey guys and girls needing some help

I was looking to see if there is a way to get the amber in my head light to light up as my side lights but still to work when indicating?

I would quite like to remove the side lights and smooth the bumber

Any thought ??

I'm sure there is a way to sort it somehow, but can't remember anyone doing it. Problem is that the amber is the indicator, so you'd have to have them in the reverse operation to how they are now? Would likely be easier doing something with the side repeaters in the front bumper.

Side light must be white light indicator must be amber so only option would be to detango the indicator inside the headlight and change it to a clear lens then use an amber bulb in it. Don't think you could use it as a sidelight with a white bulb in at as well, it wouldn't meet the lighting regs and fail its MOT.

Would be relatively easy depending on 1 thing if you can get a bulb holder that'll fit or be modded to fit .
I would fit a twin filament bulb holder ( Stop/ tail) into the indicators then wire tail feed to sidelights and stop feed to indicator. This would only work with amber lenses as i don't think you get a twin filament amber bulb.

As long as you keep the white sidelights in the headlights the amber indicators lights would be classed as marker lights.
So would pass mot.

The back of the headlamp unit is plastic so de tango then drill a hole to accept an extra lamp fitting use one for a clear bulb & the other for an orange one.

The US market cars have an extra wire going to the indicator to do this. I looked at this and though it could be plug and play but our cars are missing the extra wire.

The only amber light that can be legally on the front of a vehicle other than white light is a flashing direction indicator, the only light on the rear of a vehicle other than red is an flashing amber indicator, side marker lights must be positioned on the side of a vehicle and show red or amber. There are provisions that exclude working vehicles such as refuse vehicles etc.

But if the vehicle has two correctly coloured and positioned side lights then additional or optional lights are not included in the test.
Whether is then is an infringement of the road traffic act is another matter all together

Its not really about the the MOT Steve its contravention of the Road Vehicles Lighting Regs.

Did the e60 5 series and bangle 7 series not have orange light stripes accross the tops of the headlights?

I looked them up when i fitted the lighting kit to my wind deflector its a huge amount of stuff and i did say at the end of my last post that may infringe road traffic act.
There are a number of things that pass an mot but still strictly not legal on the road.
The most common one that i probably see is hid conversions.
