The Soft Top Shop in Stockport offers excellent quality roofs for our cars and the customer service is second to none.

I thoroughly recommend this business that genuinely cares about doing an excellent job and appreciates how vehicles’ decades old have been maintained to still be here today.

In a sea of businesses saying they’ll do a great job and then do anything but, The Soft Top Shop stands out for quality of product and service, and is a refreshing change from those businesses who fail to understand how our cars work and are only after ripping customers off. The Soft Top Shop is exceptional and if your car is needing a new roof, your car deserves the best: choose The Soft Top Shop.

And I’m a paying customer before anyone asks. Not affiliated to or connected in anyway to The Soft Top Shop. Simply offering a valid recommendation to fellow Zedders for their cars.

I had an mx5 roof fitted by them a few yrs ago and found the same, great quality and great service, I shall be using them again later this year for a new roof for my z3 as I fancy a different colour

Pleased to hear you've had a good experience with a motor business Dawn.. That's great news.

Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. As said excellent service and real care taken. Had my Z3 roof done there and although the car is no more i believe the roof is still going strong
It certainly is

I agree, Paul. It was you saying how great The Soft Top Shop is one sunny Zshed day at Tony’s that spurred me to find out more. Hand on heart, this is the only company I have had experience of that really is excellent and genuinely cares about the work it does and its customers.

From what I have read it's about time. You can't be unlucky forever.
Absolutely, Pond! I’d go so far as to say this is the best company I’ve dealt with which treats customers and their cars with respect, is more than happy to go the extra mile to ensure they are happy with their purchases and are really straight as a dye in terms of no false claims or cons.

How much?

How long do they need the car?
Give them a call. The service takes about four hours, half a day and the town has an interesting tale from the war years for customers to explore while waiting for The Soft Top Shop to work its magic on car roofs.

I'm a bit confused @ktnez99.
Do you recommend this lot of not? :poke:=))

Can't disagree there. Sounds like every single one of my sub-contractors. All fairly big companies in the 'service industry', however the 'service' part has been sadly forgotten. They are now purely in the 'money making industry' according to how they operate..
It's not good.

What's the approximate price for a new roof?
Price list has been posted above.
Range from £450 - £1500 ..with the adage that you get what you pay for IMO. The prep will be what you pay extra for which is very labour intensive. Bear in mind most uk roofs will look like this when you take the old cover off.

A big yes from me, they fitted a mohair hood on our MX5 two years ago, great service, no hidden extras, car lives outside and there’s never been an issue. Hoods looks as good today as it did then. Suspect we will be returning with the Z3 before winter sets in.

Do they use the same roof they take off, or do they have roofs in stock?

I'll ask them on Tuesday, but I thought I'd ask the question here for a quicker answer - hopefully.

I have a spare roof, and I'd take it to them, so they can prepare it, and make the turnaround quicker - and maybe cheaper :D .

The roof frame usually stays on the car, it’s only the outer cover that is being replaced. Your roof frame will be factory adjusted to your car so taking it off can be a whole load of additional work.
