Don't know if many of you shoot but there are more guns per head of the population in our county that anywhere in the UK.Getting a licence is very difficult, refrences, no criminal record, no mental health issues then sometimes you have to be accompanied by a experienced shooter for a couple of years to make sure you follow safe shooting practices and you are limited to the amount of ammunition you can buy and store and it has to be kept in a different locked cabinet from your firearms its quite a process lol. I've just bought the rifle that I've always drooled over .It's a Blaser R8 22.250 I've just got to practice with it now. I usually only shoot crows on the ground and foxes I'm after the one that took our gossling and I'll be standing guard at the chicken shed.I usually sight the rifle in to about 100yds it bullets although soft points go straight through 1/4 inch steel and make mess on a 1/2inch one it definitely makes you appreciate to handle it with respect

Nice toy Hugh, I haven't used a firearm for over 40yrs but I do own a selection of air rifles. I rarely get them out these days though. I bought a new Wiehrach HW35 about 3yrs ago with my work bonus and I have not put a pellet down it yet.

If you need to practice.....there’s a fox that keeps digging up my front garden

Used to live fire every 3 months. Couldn't hit a barn door from 2 feet with a 25lb cannon, great fun though. The SLR, now that was a powerful weapon, massive recoil compared to the SA80 which I preferred as it was lighter. Our personal weapon in the early 80's was the SMG =)) You'd be better off throwing KitKats at the enemy =))=))=))

Looks a smart bit of kit

It’s no toy lol. It’s one of the things I treat with the most respect. Had such a lot of fun with an air rifle is the wiehrach a springer or pneumatic?

Sometimes it’s not the size of the bullet it’s hitting the target most of the time ,I don’t shoot at anything alive unless I’m pretty sure I can do a good job. I think you had a different job, nothing is shooting back at me thank goodness

I've only fired hand guns decades ago. I tell a lie, a friend once lent me his scoped and silenced .22 to get rid of some aggressive shrikes in the back garden. Took a lump of plaster off the boundary wall. Felt a bit foolish patching it up.

But with a hand gun hitting a target at all is an accomplishment...

Nice looking bit of equipment ....

TBF as a RAF Fireman if the enemy were shooting at me we'd have lost the War. Fired the .303 as a youngster, nearly popped my shoulder out as I didn't have it in snug.

I spent 20 years in daily possession of multiple firearms and been unfortunate enough to see the damage they can do in the wrong hands. So, it's nice to know that we have some of the most stringent firearms legislation in the world.

I used to enjoy firing the old .303 in the RAF days, you did have to hold it in tight.

I don’t think anyone who legally has a firearms certificate would disagree,it’s a privilege not a right lucky we don’t have a second amendment.

It's a springer, all mine are springers
