If a tyre is fitted correctly the red dot should be aligned with the valve. This ensures that the minimum amount of added weight, to balance the tyre to the wheel is used. This reduces the cost and waste.

So you'd put the red dot next to the mark of the balancing weights you've just taken off ? So in the first photo you can see the new weights on the opposite side of the wheel - where the red dot should have been ?

Well this is interesting (sorry Tony saw your explanation after I posted)

Most tyre fitters don't even know about this Alex, and those that do can't be arsed to do it properly.
