Beautiful. I've always loved cobras, sadly I'll never be able to afford a real one. I would like to build a replica though, I've seen the one I want, made by a company called XCS designs.

Most of the cobra replicas I've seen have terrible chassis and as an engineer I have a problem with buying something that I don't think is up to the job!

The dax, factory 5 and the GD's are the ones I liked.
But the Anaconda is BMW 3-series based, which I liked a lot as idea.
Then again I knew the chassis fabricator very well. So normally all tubes are made in 2mm. Except for the tube just behind the drivers seat (the rear shocks, the optional roll bars and the seat-harnasses are bolted to the one) that is made from 3mm.
....mine is completely made from 3mm tubes....which makes it 25kg more heavy, but I know for sure the chassis is strong enough.

A 3 series would make a far better Base than the old Sierra based cars. I assume it's e36?

I bet it still has a ladder frame chassis though which is fine providing you don't drive it too hard! This is the XCS chassis, all made from new components, including hubs, brakes, diff etc. It'll take a dax body, but has a far superior chassis. It's not 'original' but if you are building a replica you may as well improve the parts underneath!

@Chazzy that chassis does look good. (although not that different to other chassis I have seen)
On the other hand, I only have 150 bhp....and there is no need to drive it hard...it's a car for cruising.

The best thing about the car is:
When someone stop besides you at the traffic lights and challenges you to race.
I drive off slowly....most of the times, the road could have had me easily.
But the driver is still thinking he had no chance.
A cobra doesn't need speed, it just exhails power...even when going slowly :)

I think if you put more than that in it Koen, it would probably kill you.
Me: possibly
But i know of someone that has 650bhp (at the wheels) from a 7.2 big block.
And magnum (his brand of kit) is capable....and he races with and is a race instructor for corvette (and not only in a straight line, but on track).
He knows how to handle it.

Where was that in Malmedy? I was there a few years ago on holiday.

Daxes do look good. They have everything in there kit....which was far from the case for my kit.
It was a challenge to search for everything myself. But in the end that was also the fun part.
