I do that all the time in me old van (daily driver), use diesel to get me up the hills and gravity to get me down

When I was out in Libya we were taught to drive off high sand dunes in 2nd with foot off the pedals.

Strange I was always taught keep my right foot firmly planted on the noisiest pedal and play about with my left one with the other two.......never had very good economy though :/

My old dad used to do that on the hilly bits on the way down in his Ford Anglia, out of gear and foot off all the pedals...

This the old school driving gravitational! I'm still doing it !
