Well a quick update since first introducing myself to the forum.
After a few ups and downs, my '98 Z3 1.9 got transported from the left coast here to Ontario. The Province of Ontario had a few fits in accepting the initial British Columbia registered VIN and this had to be resolved by a trip to a local BMW dealership where they took pictures of the frame-stamped VIN numbers and provided a letter attesting to the fact that the car was what the build sheet said it was and the VIN was correct.
With registration (albeit a temporary one) out of the way, the only remaining hurdle was a safety check which she passed with flying colours. Both the dealership and my mechanic remarked on condition. My mechanic and his shop saying it looked like the car had been sitting in a museum somewhere. No apparent wear, no oily stains, no rust, no marks and only 27K (km's at that) on the clock.
So now she's away under cover in a garage for the winter avoiding all of the salt and I'm busy collecting the little extras that I'll want for when she emerges for the summer.
