Ok so don't want to pester you people but maybe you could clarify something for me, I have looked into the reset the service light as I will do the services myself and I have seen the threads on crossing the connectors in the large round diagnostic port and that's nice and I'm happy with that but I have seen plugs on ebay for £5 that you just plug in and press a button and to me for the sake of a 5er its a easy and quick option, now a couple of questions.....
My Z is a 2.2 2002 model so does it still have the large round plug? if so will this be ok? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OBD2-OBDI...716?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3f2691a0b4

and there is another BUT! I know mine has the OBD2 port under the dash (or so I believe as I haven't looked yet :p) can you use the OBD2 port rest tool as in this one.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Top-Quali...431?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item234d2fb4a7

Anyway thanks again for your help guys :)

I use the plug in type under the bonnet because it was given to me by a friend, I have an OBD type diagnostic tool too but have not tried is as yet not due for reset.

Tony.

Most later Z3's have both the round socket under the bonnet and the OBDII under the steerting column. My 2001 2.2 has both, so should yours.

That first one looks just like the one @Lee has in his garage, although we had fun with it last time we used it.

Hi @Dickymint, I reset mine using the round socket under the bonnet. I just connect a push button switch to a long pair of wires so I can sit in the drivers seat to do the reset to see if it's worked. Normally have to try once or twice to get the timing right. I connect the switch between pins 7 (ground) and 19 (SI reset). I don't know whether you can do it from the OBDII connector under the dash, never tried.
