Admitedly I'm a little out of touch, but the E89 is a few months away from its bi-annual service - oil and filters, and more importantly I seem to have a headlamp washer pipe leak that needs wheel and liner off to locate and sort. Phoned local BMW . . .

Usual service cost (including spark plugs) £677 discounted to £465. First hours labour to diagnose the leak £198, plus necessary parts and labour. 'Ow much . . . ? It's only a little 4 pot . . .

I've developed a sudden pain in my wallet, I'd better go and lie down . . .

Now booked in to the local indie to sort the pipe, but am I really that out of touch on service pricing ?

3 litre Z3 pretending to be Italian exotica. Two previous E89 Z4s.
Don't go to a main dealer. They are (and have always been) a rip off.

I have a 'BMW Specialist' near me but they are only 10% cheaper on average, so still costly.

Even my local 'one ramp, one bloke' back street garage charge £80 per hour plus VAT now.

Don't know why anyone would go to a main dealer, or 'specialist' unless the car has i-drive based servicing records (the E89 doesn't). I had to use a garage with the BMW software on my F33, to update the i-drive records. It cost a lot more money than it should just for an entry on a computer. Madness.
